When my kids were babies, Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) wasn’t even on my radar.
But that’s the thing about parenting, sometimes we only learn about things after they hit close to home. And I’ve been lucky.
So if you haven’t heard of RSV, this is your moment to get ahead of it, before it becomes more than just three letters.
It’s common, contagious, and can become serious, especially for little ones. I may not have experienced RSV firsthand, but I’ve learned enough to know it’s worth talking about.
💬 If this is new to you, let’s talk!
💛 If you’ve been through RSV before, your story could help someone else.

Mums, have you heard of RSV?
I hadn’t — until I started wondering why Anya kept falling sick so often during her pre-toddlerhood. 😢
RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) is something almost all children catch by age 2. It usually feels like a regular cold… but in some babies, it can cause serious breathing issues like bronchiolitis or pneumonia.
I wish more of us knew about it earlier — not to scare, but to prepare. The little things we do, like handwashing, keeping toys clean, and being extra careful when someone’s unwell — they actually help.
If you’re a fellow mum just hearing about this, speak to your pediatrician or healthcare provider for immunisation options, and take a few minutes to read up at TogetherAgainstRSV.sg or tap the link in my bio. Let’s look out for one another 💛

Honestly, I didn’t even know what RSV was until recently. But after working with Together Against RSV, I found out some stuff I wish I’d known earlier.
RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) is super common. Like… 90% of kids will get it before they turn two. In Singapore, over 9,300 kids under 29 months go to the clinic every year because of it.
It’s also one of the top reasons babies under 6 months get hospitalised for bronchiolitis or pneumonia.
Nori hasn’t had RSV but we’ve had close calls. There were times we thought, “It’s just a little cough.”And next thing you know, we’re at the doctor. It really made me realise how fast things can turn.
RSV spreads so easily through sneezes, shared toys, even “clean” surfaces. I’m not here to scare anyone. Just… if you’ve never heard of it, now you have.

Whenever I enter discussions about nasty viruses and children falling ill from it— my heart always aches. Having lost a child from something that may seem as mild as a “flu bug”, I understand the severity of it.
Have you heard of Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV)? It is a highly contagious virus that could cause serious breathing issues like bronchiolitis and pneumonia. RSV is easily spread through coughs, sneezes, and close physical contact, like cuddles and kisses.
To help protect your baby from RSV, limit close physical contact with people who may show signs and symptoms of flu. Keep regularly washing hands and disinfect toys and surfaces on a regular basis! Feel free to comment below sharing experiences (if any), so all moms could benefit from it! We’re in this together, fellow mamas! Visit TogetherAgainstRSV.sg for more info!

What is Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) ?
It is a member of the pneumovirus family and a highly transmissible respiratory viral disease.RSV is highly infectious and circulates in Singapore throughout the year!
It is a leading cause of respiratory viral infections in infants < 2 years old, particularly <12 months of age.
Many parents are unaware of RSV and do not know that they need to prepare for this respiratory illness. Even if their child presents with respiratory symptoms, they are often dismissed as "a cold."
RSV symptoms also make it difficult to distinguish it from the common cold or other respiratory viruses (like the flu or COVID-19).The risk of severe RSV disease to all infants is poorly understood, leading to downplaying and inaction.
I’m honored to be part of this project to start raising the awareness of RSV in Singapore.
Let’s equip ourselves with knowledge and prevention resources.

As a mother of five, I know how quickly illnesses can spread in a household. One child gets sick, and before you know it, everyone is coughing and feeling unwell. 🤒🤧 But some viruses are more than just a passing cold—RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) is one of them.
Two years ago, my oldest son, Leonardo was hospitalized with pneumonia caused by RSV. He spent five days in the hospital, struggling to breathe 😔, and even after he recovered, he had breathing issues for a year. It was a terrifying experience, and I never want any parent to go through the same fear and helplessness.
RSV is highly contagious, spreading through coughs, sneezes, and even surfaces like toys and utensils. 🧸🥄 With five kids, I have to be extra cautious because what starts as a mild cough for one can turn into something much worse for another.
Many parents don’t realize how serious RSV can be. It’s common, yet not widely talked about. Knowing the symptoms and how to reduce the risk is so important. If you’re a parent, I urge you to learn more about RSV and how to protect your little ones.
